Why change?Ottawa Needs a Cohesive Vision to Create a World-class City that Includes:
Katherine Hobbs will work with you to make Kitchissippi a place where businesses and residents prosper by: Improving the Livability in Each Neighbourhood in Kitchissippi. Intensification is not just happening on our main streets. The unprecedented development has resulted in the need for a host of community improvements. Intensification has cast a spotlight on our aging infrastructure problems. Residents are in the best position to talk about what is affecting our neighbourhoods and our quality of life. Through a series of moderated town hall sessions, we can create comprehensive plans to guide City staff and developers. We will work together so that our neighbourhoods grow the way we envision them. Working to Bring Light Rail to Kitchissippi. Ottawa is working hard to build a transit system that meets the current and future needs of our communities. It is critical that Kitchissippi not be bypassed by planned light rail routes. Light rail will allow visitors to visit our shops, restaurants, parks, beaches and cultural venues without bringing their cars. Light rail will lessen pollution and traffic in our neighbourhoods. Ensuring We Get Full Value for Our Tax Dollars. The key to controlling taxes is a balanced approach that stimulates economic growth. Economic growth will allow us to concentrate on growing the tax base instead of raising tax rates. We need a multi-year financial plan and a prioritization of expenditures. The city budget should be like a clearly marked path towards the future. Every expenditure must be a step in the right direction. More than ever, our city councillors must be up to the task of understanding the multi-million dollar decisions they are making. Delaying major infrastructure projects will only increase costs when systems begin to fail, resulting in a bigger burden for the taxpayer. Katherine Hobbs will get the job done. She understands the needs of Kitchissippi ward and the City as a whole. On October 25th - vote for Katherine Hobbs to represent you at City Hall. |
